These 2 children, found a small branch, that had most likely blown off the tree during last weeks rainy weather. They dug a hole, put the branch in...standing it up in the hole and then filled in the sand around it. Then they both said at the same time "Look, we planted a tree!"
What happened to the log that we were standing on? Why did it do that? The children have been investigating it this week on the playground. They have noticed various "bugs" living inside...small worms, potato bugs and crickets living underneath it. Nature is amazing!
NatureWe have begun to talk about "nature" and what it is. I have been observing the children, as they explore "nature" outside and inside the classroom. Nature is so broad...the children are beginning to shape where this topic will lead us.
A little boys perspective: "I am a tree. I know what a tree is like now. I know why it is happy to be in the world. I can see lots of things being up high. I feel strong, but wobbly. When I put my arms out...my leaves will grow on me."
