A few friends are very scared of "thunder" in our class. They associate rain with thunder. We took the attention away from the "rainy weather" being scary on our island, but rather it turning into a "sun shower". We talked about why it rains when the sun is out sometimes (A sun shower is usually caused by the wind, blowing the raindrops where there are no clouds and the sun is out.). We also talked about when it is cold out, it is called a "snow shower".
The children used tissue paper and glue sticks to create their raindrops. We made gray paint (or silver) by mixing black and white paint together. Then we painted with Q-tips. : )
