We practiced writing our letters, drew pictures, and had fun with shaving cream....while also cleaning the tables as we get ready for vacation.

Morning Care: snipping and ripping paper...then using glue sticks to stick it on the big red paper that we painted last week.
Are we just playing? No...we are learning through our play.
Fine motor, eye hand coordination, counting, sorting, taking turns, making patterns, learning to make letters, numbers, sharing....etc. Speedy, the terrapin turtle, came to morning care for a quick visit. He resides in the Grade 1-2 classroom. He was eating his breakfast in his feeding bowl. We just watched with our eyes.
Bob, the electrician, came and fixed our broken outlets in the classroom. The children and I talked about why we do not touch the outlets (not safe-electricity could hurt our bodies). We watched as Bob used a special glove to touch the wires and turn off the power to our classroom. before he changed the outlet socket and cover.
Evie's "book-share" was about counting today. Her family donated this chart to the classroom. Thank you! We sorted the numbers and then filled in the chart, each taking a number and working on it together. We then made a pattern with the rows (red, white, red, white, etc.). Alina said that the pattern reminded her of a "candy cane". The children were excited that we were able to count to 100.
Our youngest Mentor Buddies we call "The LIttle's". Yesterday, one of the kids asked me why do we call them "The Little's" and not the "Babies".. I said that they aren't babies, as babies do not go to school here. A few of the kids in our class said that they were babies because they sleep in cribs. I explained that there isn't any cribs at school. They said that they did at school (sleep in cribs). Today, we walked down to the "Little's" classroom during nap time and learned that they rest on mats like we do. : )
It is hard to believe it is winter with the beautiful weather like today. Last week the temperatures were in the single digits, today it was almost 50 degrees on the playground.
It was a great day to get outside and play with our "Little" mentor buddies. New Month....new theme for the dramatic play area. Would you like a nibble in the "Pre-K Cafe" (restaurant)?
Both Pre-K classrooms will be having a combined party. Ms. Lynn and I have sent home Valentine name lists (they are in your child's cubbie). If you would like to make a donation to the party, the list is hanging in between the classrooms. Thank you! : ) Please send your child in their pajamas (bring a change of clothes and sneakers). Thank you! : ) We made predictions of whether or not we thought that "Phil" would see his shadow on Saturday.
Predictions: Will see his shadow: Evie Lily Vanessa Aidan Brayden Thomas WIll not see his shadow: Helen Alina Emily Ayden Ms. Nancy Groundhog Puppets: *I apologize in advance for not a lot of pictures. We tried many different gluing strategies to get the whiskers and eyes to stay on. We found out that the glue stick worked best for the whiskers and the hot glue for the eyes. Song Tune: I'm a little tea pot *Results: Phil did not see his shadow. Early spring is predicted. |
