Yesterday, during Science Co-op, we talked about active animals. Today during snack time, 2 friends were eating apples. They wanted to know if "active animals" like apples. We created an experiment with sunflower seed butter & 2 apple cores. We then put it on the picnic table outside our classroom window. Now we just need to watch and see what happens. What do you think will happen?
Today in Science Co-op with Ms. Lynn's class, we finished our mural about Hibernation (animals that sleep during the winter), Migration (animals that travel to someplace warmer) and Active Animals (animals that stay out all winter long).
Mentor Buddies: Today we talked about how we are all unique...just like snowflakes. Our "buddies" showed us how to make paper snowflakes.
Today, we enjoyed a milkshake (chocolate or vanilla) with Ms. Lynn's class. Ms. Lynn's class is talking about the letter M this week. So...we had "morning milkshakes" (before community circle this morning). They were mmmm mmmm good! : ) This afternoon, for lunch, the kindergarten children shared their extra pizza with us. On Friday's, the kindergarten and elementary school has pizza for lunch (if they choose). The Pre-kindergarten class was VERY excited to be able to participate in this extra treat. "We are like the big kids" and "I can't wait to be in Ms. Jane's class next year..and then I will get pizza all the time too!" said two very excited PK students.

We have 2 customers! : ) **If you have any empty food containers/boxes we would love to have them for Smiley's market! : ) Today, the children learned what a "solo" is. They all got to perform a solo either, using their instrument or singing a song.
Today in art class, the children watched a short video on Youtube: Kid President, remembering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They talked about how Dr. King reached out to everyone, kind people as well as unkind. He wanted peace!
Today in Science Co-Op, we built on our last week lesson. Last week we started talking about winter. A few of the children noticed the prints their boots made in the snow. Another child noticed that there were animal prints on the playground. Today we found out that the animal was a squirrel.
Ms. Lynn used chalk and rubbed it on the bottom of our shoes/boots today. We then walked on the blue rug. We noticed that all of our prints were different. Some were ovals, others star prints, lines, zig zags and even a space alien look. We also noticed that some shoes were bigger than others. Finally, we read the book: Animals In Winter. We started talking about migration, hibernation and active animals. These pictures are from Buddies in December. The PK classroom was excited to try the 'rock wall' and "bow tie" monkey bars. Our Buddies demonstrated different ways to climb on them safely. Then the PK tried! : )
Ms. Karin's class presented. All of the teachers also presented their upcoming January curriculum. Thank you to everyone who came! : )
