The Pampered Chef party has been postponed. You still can order online! : )
If you have any questions, please see Ms. Amy or Ms. Tara Lynn Where: The Laurel School
When: Monday January 29th, 2018\ Time: 5-7 PM Any questions, please see Ms. Tara Lynn or Ms. Amy : ) "Animal Hospital" doctors, playground time, making "police headband hat", building center and enjoying music together with our friends!
Today, in Mentor Buddies we did a project together. One of our "Big" buddies read us a story, then we worked with our buddies to create a groundhog puppet. We learned a little song to go with it. Ask us to sing it for you! (tune: I'm a little teapot)
The children have been enjoying the new special, "Health and Fitness" with Ms. Ann. It meets on Tuesday/Thursdays from 11-11:30 each week.
Today, they played "Musical Mats" and other fun movement games. Today, we kept the materials the same, except that we added soapy warm water to the water beads, glass and river rocks. The animals, spoons and containers stayed the same.
These 2 girls discovered that they could make a "hibernation area" for the animals. They put the animals in the clear container, then added the water. Then they put the water beads on the top (they learned that the beads float). Then they put the clear & blue glass ones on top of the water beads (they learned that the glass ones sink). Then they said "it looks like ice." Later in the play, they stuck the spoons thru the beads at the top and said "It is like real ice...it is hard to get it through the top. But you can see the spoons under the water." The Animals Hospital is open for business!
In this picture, these 2 excellent doctors are taking good care of a horse that visited the hospital today. They are examining the horse to see what the problem is. "I am covering its eyes so it won't be scared." said one of the doctors. Water beads, river rocks, aquatic animals, blue water, glass gems, plastic spoons and containers.
The children sorted the animals, water beads and river rocks. They used the spoons to explore the materials (lift water out of the table and put in the containers). They figured out that more water beads can fit in the big container than the smaller one. When putting the beads into the clear container, they realized that the water was blue and the beads were clear. The children have been showing interest in animals. The "Nature Cafe" was getting old. Therefore, it was time for a change. Over the weekend, a vet office has been built. I can't wait to see the children's reaction on Monday morning! : )
Mentor Buddies: Today, with the "Little's", Ms. Julia read the story; Jump, Frog, Jump!. We then acted out the story (jumping like frogs).
Today, we acted out the story of The Mitten, with Ms. Anita's class! Ms. Anita brought in her puppets on a stick and a sheet (to be the mitten). We had so much fun! :)
We have started working on our S.T.E.A.M topic. We will be doing projects mainly on Wednesday/Thursday each week until February. Please look under the "S.T.E.A.M" heading (instead of "blog") for more information on what we have been doing. Thanks! :)
New discoveries...."Look, I got them all to stand up this time!" "Look, I finally made a flower all by myself." "I drew a picture of me and Dane. I even wrote his name. First time. We are friends."
The kindergarten class presented The 3 Piggy Opera with Mrs. Wadsworth. Then Ms. Chelsey's class presented work that they have been doing (poems, Art & Literature Faire tree houses, etc.).
