Seed Song:
I plant a little seed
down in the ground.
Out comes the sun
big and round.
Down comes the rain
soft and slow.
Up comes the flowers
grow, grow, grow.

Science Co-op: Today, Ms. Anita read Plant Secrets to us. We learned a new song about the plant cycle and sang "Green Grass Grew All Around". We planted grass seed in plastic cups that we created a face on the cup.

Drain discovery...."Why is there a tire around it? Who lives down there? What is down there? Can you see the bottom?"
Soccer and basketball with friends! Making magic "potions" with friends.... Swinging: "So high!" Thank you for all the "special people" who came to "star shine" with us. It was great to see the family "duets" as well as friends singing and performing with each other! I would like to thank Ms. Amy for getting us a real working microphone. The children loved it! Also, a huge shout out to Mrs. Mills (Ms. Courtney) for being our photographer! Thank you...thank you ....thank you! : )
Today, we took part in celebrating the Laurel School administration team (Ms. Amy, Ms. Courtney, Ms. Tara Lynn & Ms Karin). We gave them flowers, dessert and a gift in the big room.
We had intended to do this project outside today...but instead we needed to do chalk inside, as it was raining out. The children added crayons to their chalk drawings.
We enjoyed the beautiful spring weather today. We played outside with our "Buddies". We blew bubbles (and chased them). We also started playing baseball out on the field. We each got a turn up at bat and then we ran the bases. We also watched a short video about why it is important to brush our teeth. (There is a toothbrush to go home in your child's cubbie. As well as a small sample of toothpaste and a pamphlet about healthy teeth).
Look who is 5 now! He brought in cupcakes to share with his friends. We celebrated his special day, by having a picnic outside.
Today, we created our own trees, using different kinds of paper and crayons. Then we labeled the parts of a tree (roots, trunk and branches).
Movie NIght: Tonight @ the Laurel School. We will be watching "Ferdinand". Please, stop by the front office, if you would like to sign your child up.
*photo from movie night in March 2018 A child in the class, brought in a stick from the playground and they wanted to know if it would grow into a tree over night?
I would like to say a huge "thank you" to Riley, for volunteering 2 hours on Saturday at the Laurel School booth. She did an amazing job at handing out wildflower seeds to people who stopped by the booth...."Save the bees...spread the seeds!". She also created this cool sculpture using pieces of nature! Thank you again, Riley! : )
Today, we went on a walking "field trip". We walked and explored "springtime" in front of our school. We used our senses to explore the wind and trees. We learned the parts of the tree: roots, trunk and branches. We also looked at the different types of trees (pine, oaks and bush like trees).
