Friends helping friends....Kind & Loving moments during the day!
A classmate was nervous about going on the swing. (fear of heights?). Another friend showed him how she pumps to control the swing. Now he is big smiles and asking to go on them each time we go outside. A friend was nervous because there was a bug on her shovel. 2 friends came to her aid and taught her that the bug was a friendly one. It wouldn't bite her. 2 Pre-K friends helping each other make something in the sand. Another friend found a blue container that their friend was looking for. Thanks to friends who make life easy! Spread the Laurel School Love! : ) Our books are under construction, but they are hanging up on display if you want to look at them each week, for a sneak peek! : )
Is your child on a special diet? Food sensitivities (that is not an allergy)? please let Ms. Nancy know.
We often do taste tests and have special snacks in the Pre-K classrooms. If your child has food restrictions, please just jot it down on a piece of paper (and include what you typically substitute it with). Thank you! : ) Two Morning Care friends excited that it rained before school. "Look, we made mud!" they shouted with excitement. "Do you want to come to our mud kitchen?" they invited almost everyone who came through the gate that morning. R-L: It is all about the process.
1. They used a baby carrier seat to start the process. Dry "chocolate dirt" in one side (leg holes) and the other side was the water. Slowing adding and stirring it. 2. Then "the chocolate mud" was moved to the metal pot. Then "cooked" (while still stirring). Then "the chocolate dirt mud" was moved to the blue bowl for someone to eat. At that time it turned into "Chocolate Soup" (as there was more water in the bowl). 3. Customer with the brown hat. Oh no, the soup spilled on the cooks foot "Oh that was cold!" : ) Event: Pre-Kindergarten School Pictures

Ms. Naomi conducted a taste test of 2 different types of apples (red and a green). Most of the children liked both apples. Then we practiced our leadership skills outside with them. The Pre-K class helped the "little's" with the mini roller-coaster toy, played basketball and made make believe "chocolate" cakes in the kitchen area. We practiced sharing and taking turns.
A few friends have been noticing the afternoon sky when we head outside in the afternoon. Here are some pictures from today's sky. Is it going to rain or are the clouds going to blow away so the sun can come out to play again?
Today, we worked on balance and coordination with Mr. Tarin. We couldn't go outside, because of the rainy weather, so he brought pool noodles inside for us to use. We walked on and jumped over the noodles. We also played a passing game, using a ball. So much fun!
As we talk about 9/11, we remember our first responders, the true heroes on this tragic day. We talked about how we can all be "First Respnders" being their to help someone when the need arises.
Remembering the heroes of 9-11.
We talked about what a hero is (as well as qualities of super heroes). We came to the realization that all heroes are brave. We talked about first responders, and that anyone can be a first responder, if they are willing to be brave and help someone in need. Some examples of how we can be first responders...we can help friends who fall down on the playground (IE. go get a teacher to help them) and standing up for someone who needs help. The children made an American Flag, creating a pattern of stripes and adding their own crayon drawn stars. The children talked about ways that they can help at home or other people. The elementary school presented their summer book reports!
*We will be presenting in November (and then again in the spring)! : ) |
