We love our Mentor Buddies...they "rock"! : )
Today, in Big Buddies, one of our Buddies read us a story. Our Buddies then talked to us about a trip that they recently went on. They went to Nauset Beach. They collected rocks while they were there. Our Buddies shared their rocks with us. We then got to paint our rocks. They are drying in the big room, come check them out! : ) We love our Mentor Buddies...they "rock"! : )

Today, in Mentor Buddies, a few of our "Big Buddies", read us a story. They did a great job with remembering to show us the pictures. Then we played "Thankful soccer". We stood in a circle and passed the ball to a friend. We trapped (stopped) the ball and then we said one thing that we are thankful for, or one food that we like to eat.
Cleaning out the camera before Thanksgiving break....Came across some pictures from Morning Care (during Spirit week). Enjoy~
![]() We placed our Jack-o-lantern outside with the coconut, that we were studying. The children want to know if the squirrel will eat them. We have been looking at them weekly, to notice changes in them. So far, the pumpkin's face is decomposing, it is sinking it, to give it a pouty look. It also has grown some fuzzy mold inside (looking like it has "hair" and "brains"). We will continue to watch it through the window. Today, Mrs. Mills, found this small caterpillar in the Laurel School garden. She brought it in so that our class could look at it.
During art class, Ms. Alex and the children, have been creating feather's. Here are some of the children showing off their feather masterpieces that they have been working on, while others chose not to show me as they want them to be a "surprise"!
In Science Co-op, with Ms. Anita's class, we learned how popcorn is made. We learned that when a corn kernel gets hot, it pops!
Movement: Popcorn kernels in the pot Shake them till they Pop! Pop! Pop! Donna Rockwell, came to visit the Laurel School. Ms. Rockwell is the author and illustrator of the book Seeing Stars. She read the book aloud and then showed us how she created the pictures.
We read the book, "How Much Is That Doggie In The Window?" .We talked about how the boy in the story was kind to his family. We then decorated hearts and cut them out.
Today, we learned that Donna Rockwell (Author and Illustrator of the above book) is coming to visit the Laurel School next Thursday. We read her book today during "Science Co-Op" with Ms. Anita's class. We learned a lot of interesting facts about "star fish".
Donna Rockwell lives on Cape Cod! Starfish Facts: * A starfish is not a fish. (sea star) *They can grow new limbs (it may take up to a year). *They eat inside out. It's stomach comes out of their body and then goes back in. *They cannot survive in fresh water. They need to be in salt water. *They cannot survive outside of the water (they must be in the water). *There are over 2,000 kinds of starfish. *A starfish has no brain and no blood. *Starfish move slow! *Starfish can live to be 35 years old or older. |
