We have been making our own watercolor paint. We soak dried up markers in a cup of water for a few days. Then we paint with the new watercolor paint. Some of the children have been calling it "marker paint". So exciting! : )
Indoor on a rainy day. We practiced alternating feet (hop, jump) and then balance. The children were excited to see what silly noise each number would make.
Mentor Buddies with the "Little's": Enjoying the sun after all the rain. digging for treasures, making mud and playing with our little buddies.
We read this book and talked about our families. Ms. Anita and I are asking that all the children who would like to participate in the friendship quilt, please bring in a family picture by Friday May 3rd, 2019. Family pictures can be emailed to Ms. Nancy or Ms. Anita if that is easier for you. All pictures will be returned at the end of the school year.
The 2 pre-kindergarten classes combined to offer assorted crafts. Here are some of the crafts that were offered (painting rocks, beading, making bookmarks, etc.)
The Pre-kindergarten children released the butterflies from Ms. Lynn's classroom, in the greenhouse today. The 10 butterflies had a quick snack, then warmed their wings and started to fly towards the open sides in the greenhouse. (When the greenhouse was checked later in the day by the teachers, none of the butterflies ...from what we could see were still in the greenhouse).
Theme: Spring Topic: Baseball Today, we started creating our own pennants. What we know about baseball (First thoughts) Aidan: "Baseball starts with the letter B." Emily: "It's a ball game." Alina: "You throw the ball up and then you hit it with the bat." Brayden: "You throw it, then whip it. You throw the ball." Evan: "There is a big green monster (Fenway Park)." Ayden: "They play baseball on a field. My brother plays ball on a field." Thomas: "The other person throws you the ball and then you hit it." Vanessa: "You hit the ball and people try to get it." Lily: "You hit the ball. If you get the ball in the white stuff. You win." A couple of children noticed that the big "holes" were gone in the parking lot that has "dirt" on it. A few children noticed that there was a "bobcat" (machinery) in the parking lot. We asked Ms. Courtney about it. She told us that Mr. Metzger, one of the elementary school parents, came and fixed the parking lot.
Aidan, taught the class the correct name for the bobcat was a "skid steer". He said that "some people call it a bobcat, like to give it a name." We looked it up on the internet and found pictures of it. We learned that there is a lot of buttons and shifts on the "control panel". I learned a lot from your brilliant children. We made a thank you "poster" for Mr. Metzger to say "thank you" for keeping the Laurel School beautiful. The children who attend school on Monday, thought it was important to put all the kids name on it. So they colored hearts for everyone in Ms. Nancy's class. |
