One of our friends brought in 2 bird nests and a small egg to show his classmates. We had fun exploring the nests that were damaged during the storm. A few children found feathers in the nest and one friend compared the feather to the bird poster, that is hanging in the classroom.
Today, we started working on our classroom Gala silent auction donation. A few children helped sand the stool.
The holiday season is coming up. These pictures, that your children have created, make excellent presents. There is an order form inside the packets. Please have all order forms back to school by Wednesday November 1st. Thanks!
Thank you to the Brewster Police Department for coming to our school last week to talk about the American flag. These 2 officers shared history about our flag as well as the proper way to fold it (the children in the elementary school do a wonderful job at folding the flag each day). They also talked about how we can respect the flag and why it is so important to our country.
Today, we created our "I" page. We talked about our favorite flavors of ice cream. The children talked about the different places that they like to eat their ice cream on Cape Cod (ie. beach, ice cream truck, restaurants, at home and at the fireworks).
The children created their favorite flavor ice cream and put it on a cone to create this page. Favorite flavors: Vanilla (multiple votes) Grasshopper Chocolate (multiple votes) Strawberry-vanilla Mint Chocolate Chips (multiple votes) Today, one of our new "Little Buddies" came to visit for part of our lunch. Her older brother is in Pre-K! Lots of smiles!
Today, we enjoyed a healthy snack that a classmate brought in. We all enjoyed the delicious blackberries. Thank you for sharing with your friends and teachers.
The Pre-K class did an amazing job at presenting in front of their families and friends. They sang the "Hello Everybody" song. Then Ms. Lynn's class presented their shape collages.
Ms. Karin's class also presented work that they have been working on. Today, we learned about flounders. We learned that they are a flat fish. Their eyes are on the same side, not like most fish. Flounders swim close to the bottom, as they blend into the sand (camouflage) to hide from their predators. We learned that one of the things that flounders eat are shrimp. But, that osprey's like to eat flounders.
