We walked into school today, to find that the leprechaun had been there. The rugs were all sparkly with glitter and shiny gold coins. We know how the leprechaun loves sparkly and shiny things. The children found out that even the toilet water was green! One classmate has a creative way of holding his "Book Share" books in his cubby and was excited to see that the spines of the books were a shiny gold color.
In art class with Mrs. L, the children read the book Stregga Nona and created their masterpiece using old pasta. We did some dancing with the Preschool wing and we found that the leprechaun left us clues to find the pot of gold! The scavenger hunt brought us all over the preschool community room in the search for the pot of gold. We needed to use our thinking caps to figure out the clues. At last, we found the pot of gold! They were yummy gold colored Oreo cookies! Everyone got 1 edible gold coin! : ) Today, in Science Co-Op, we talked about how arctic animals stay warm. Ms. Annalisa's class is doing Arctic Animals for the S.T.E.A.M Fair. The PK and PS wings participated in the science experiment together. We put both of our hands in ice cold water. one hand was protected in a "blubber pocket" and the other hand had no protection for the quick dip.
Today, we met with our Buddies. We talked about what we did this past weekend. We found out that we have a lot in common!
We were invite to the Preschool wing to help a classmates', brother, celebrate his birthday! The Pre-K children were excited to have a special cupcake and fruit! : )
Today, in Science Co-op w read the book Air. The children practiced inhaling and exhaling. Feeling their tummies rise and fall with each breath.
We then did a science experiment that was in the book: a cup with water. Check on it in an hour (see the air bubbles rise in the water). The children conducted last weeks experiment on their own (cup, paper towel and water). Some of them created their own experiments using a sink full of water, a balloon, cups, paper towels, an air pump and other tools from the classroom. Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Today, the 4th, 5th and 6th grades came down and shared a short writing piece that they did with us (and the preschoolers). The title of their assignment was "Why It Is Important To Read". Then we read some Dr. Seuss books (& we talked about rhyming words). |
