The children received their flutophone cases today. Their flutophones will be spending another few weeks at school, before they are able to bring them home to practice.

Today we met with our kindergarten buddies. We read a book with Ms. Jane about pumpkins. Then we paired up with our kindergarten buddies and we played on the elementary school playground. One PK friend summed it up the best... "Playing with the kindergarten buddies is so much fun, because they like doing things that I like to do, but my buddy showed me a new trick on the structure too. I like being big!" (AS)
Today the "scientists" used their senses to explore different types of tree trunks. They made a bark (tree trunk) rubbing. Some children balanced on top of large rocks, pretending to be trees blowing in the wind, while others did the yoga tree pose. One "scientist" found some "bark dust" (they called it) that an animal had removed from the tree.
Today in Mentors, we played a couple of games as a community, with our big Buddies. First we played the name game. One student was in the middle (or for the Pre-kindergartner's, they got to stand with their Big Buddies), and then tossed the ball to a friend, saying their name first. Then that friend tossed the ball back. The second game we played, was also with the ball, but this time, we asked our Buddies a question (ie. What is your favorite color, food or activity to do?).
Today on the playground, the Pre-kindergartners found a grasshopper! : ) |
