A few of the children created this game on the playground. From my understanding of it (as it was explained to me)...they look for things in nature to help. This week, they have been busy learning about tracks in the sand...as they work together by putting rocks (both big and small) into wheelbarrows and doll carriages. They learned from experimenting, that the heavier the rock, the deeper track it will leave in the sand. But in the back of the playground, where the sand isn't as deep, you can tell what type of wheel was used by the indentations in the sand.
Thank you Meredith for the donation of rackets and balls for the playground! The children love them! : )
In September, we talked a lot about the letters in our names. A few children were wondering why the amount of letters in their name didn't change from day to day like the numbers on the calendar change.
Number Sense: Counting 1:1, left to right sequencing, charting, graphing, line (straight/curvy, most/least and upper/lowercase letters Today, in art class with Mrs. L, the children learned about weaving. They did a great job! Their weaving is in their cubbies to go home! : )
Today, we watched a short Thumbelina movie together. The children shared knowledge about what fairies are, where they live and what they do at night. Then the children gathered natural materials and created their own fairy houses.
