Front cover of our Cape Cod Alphabet books.
The children used colored pencils to color their Cape Cod maps. It is hard to believe it is October...when the weather is close to 80 degrees. Celebrating the summer like weather by having a picnic for lunch! : )
We have been talking about similarities and differences. We learned that we are all unique. There is no one exactly like us! : )
We re-read both books and then created our first Venn diagram. We talked about the similarities and differences about each book.
Friends excited to see our school neighbor driving by the fence. They even stopped to stay "hello". Other friends pretending that a table was a "bathtub" and a "pool".
The house project is finished. We will be presenting them tomorrow at Community Meeting (9:15 am). The "homes" came out AMAZING! These children are wonderful architects and artists. : )
We have a new water fountain in the hall. Does your child have an extra water bottle or a cup with a lid, that they can leave at school? (don't forget to put their name on it.) : )
We adopted a "kindness tree" in the meditation garden. We will be doing projects and watching how it changes through the seasons. We found some small insects, signs of fall and played with our little buddies.
This week, we learned some fun facts about Christopher Columbus. The children were excited to learn that he was a map maker (as they like to make maps in the classroom using different materials) and that he discovered America. We talked about how some people really think that the Earth is flat, when he discovered that it is round. We looked at the globe as well as the world map.
Reminder: School will be closed on Monday October 8th, 2018. Columbus Day. |
