Today, during Mentor Buddies the Pre-K and Toddler groups got together and had playtime outside. We continue to talk about "kindness" and "respect". Pre-K is learning that the toddlers are little people. They do not take batteries (as one of the Pre-K students asked last week). They have skin and hair like we do as well as feelings. They do not need to be picked up and that they can walk and run. We need to be gentle around them and use our soft voices, as not to scare them.
Today, one of the toddlers, was taught by a Pre-K student how to walk across the "bridge". The toddler, held his hand at first, as he gave her verbal reminders, "step over, step over. Stop at the end. Jump!". He was so happy to see her do it on her own after 8x of him helping her.
The House: A few Pre-K friends were talking with one of the toddlers in the house. They were talking about going to the "doctors" and the "dentist". Since a few of the Pre-K friends have been turning 5...they have been going to the doctors for check ups. This topic has been a popular one...especially shots!
