Art & Literature Faire: The countdown to the faire has started. We have 17 more days.
This week the children created the Oba's palace scene and are in the process of finishing up talking about the village. The children have been asking great questions about what the children who live in the village do when they are not in school. They want to know if they have toys or a local park near by. **Please see the Art & Literature tab at the top of the blog page for more information on what we have been doing.
Learn To Play: This week we began to talk about family traditions. The first and second graders shared some of their holiday traditions with us. We learned that a lot of the children put up Christmas trees, but they decorate them differently. We also found out that not all of our buddies leave milk and cookies for Santa, but others leave special type of treats for Santa as well as fruits and vegetables for the reindeer's as well.
Curriculum: This week we have begun to talk about family traditions and the different holidays that are celebrated in the month of December. Most of the children have an elf living in their homes (but not all of the children do). The children drew pictures of what they wanted Santa to bring them. Then they did a small writing piece to go with it.
Science Co-Op: We made bird feeders using pinecones, sunflower seed butter and bird seed. The children have brought their bird feeders home to hang on their trees. We wondered how long it would take the birds to realize it was there. They were also wondering who would find it first, the squirrel or the birds. Also what kind of birds. I can't wait to hear the exciting "shares" about what is happening with their bird feeders.
Preschool 4 has two bird feeder,s that were kindly donated to the classroom. We have hung them temporarily in the bush outside our classroom window, until we find a better location that is near our window.
Poem: We illustrated our November poems for our poetry journal
