Book: My Season With Penguins (By: Sophie Webb)
Small Group: We did a multiple step project today, that required good listening skills and being able to follow directions.
Penguin Life Cycle: Egg, chick hatches, chick , juvenile penguin/penguin
-we talked about what a chick looks like. How it molts its feathers when it gets older to grow new adult feathers.
Buddies: Indoor play in our classroom. Then we joined them in their classroom for lunch.
Tuesday:
Community Circle: Today the kindergarten class joined the preschool wing at community circle. We sang (and signed) "The more we get together" and "Great Big Stars".
Science (with Preschool 3):Book: The Emperor's Egg (By: Martin Jenkins). We then used 2 different sized bean bags (small/large) and a tennis ball to pretend that we were Emperor male penguins waddling with an egg on top of our feet. We also sang a penguin action song! We created a graph of what was the easiest to walk with (ball, large bean bag, small bean bag).
Spanish (w/ Senora Mary): We had a puppet show today!
Art (with Mrs. L): Drawing pictures with fine sharpie markers. Book: So many days
Wednesday:
Kindergarten Story Time: We made friends with the kindergarten friends and Ms. Jane today. Ms. Jane read the book: The Foot Book (By: Dr. Seuss). We then counted how many feet we had all together. We counted by 1's and then the kindergarteners showed us how they could count by 2's. We had 38 feet all together!
March Mathness:

Small Group: Tracing and drawing ovals
Science Fair: Book: The Emperor's Egg (By: Martin Jenkins)
We talked about penguin facts (answering some of our questions that we had)
We also reviewed from yesterday (retention of information).
Nona brought in Japanese cookies to share with the class in celebration of the Girl's Festival that was held on March 3rd in Japan. The Girl's festival is a festival that wishes good health and growth of girls. They have a Boy's Festival on May 5th. The character in the center of the cookie means "happiness".

Community Penguin: We created a 4 foot penguin. 3 children painted it. The class was measured to see who was as tall as the Emperor Penguin and who was taller.
