We started talking about different things that we love. We read the story, The story of Ferdinand (By: Robert Lawson). We talked about two of the things that Ferdinand liked doing (sitting in the meadow and smelling the flowers).
Buddies: We did free play with our Buddies today. They have new Lego's and we got to use them. Some of us, chose to create pictures/cards in their art area. While others learned how to use the dominoes.
Tuesday Feb 10th: Today was our busy day!
Science: We practiced the song that we have been learning "Grey Squirrel". We then played Squirrel bingo. We took turns rolling the dice. We then counted the number of dots and then put pieces of paper on that many squirrels.
Spanish: See Senora Mary's blog page for more details
Art: See Mrs. L's blog page for more details
Today we finished painting and labeling our penguin pictures for the science fair (1st ones). We made and estimate and counted the Box Tops. Lilli was the closest with a guess of 68 (we counted 65 box tops).
We decorated our Valentine Day bags by using heart stickers, markers, crayons and colored pencils.
Books:
The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear (By: Don and Audrey Wood)
So Much (By: Trish Cooke)
Wednesday Feb 11th:
Today we read the book Freckles and Willie (By: Margery Cuyler).
The children created Valentine's for their families using assorted colored construction paper, heart stickers, doilies, markers, crayons, scissors, glue, crayons, etc. We practiced writing the words "love", "Mommy", "Mumma" and "Dad"!
We also created "I Love You To Pieces" hearts! The children used glue and paper scraps, that they had snipped in the past, to create a colorful collage.
Thursday Feb 12th:
Valentine's Day Party! Some of the children chose to wear their pajamas. We exchanged cards, got to make pancakes and eat them, read a story about pancakes, created a "pancake in a pan" game to take home, ate lots of yummie things and visited with our buddies.
Friday Feb 13th:
The children came up with an idea to reorganize the classroom to fit in "Gerald"! We are in the process of changing the theme in the "family area" to a "zoo cafe". The children brainstormed ideas of what it would look like. We are now working on gathering supplies and creating menus for that area.
Poetry Journal: We illustrated our Valentine's Day poem!
