Art & Literature Faire: This week we compared the type of homes we have here on Cape Cod, compared to homes that are found in Nigeria (Africa). The children noted the differences that their homes have, compared to the homes in a book. We talked about yards, number of doors and windows, color of the homes and materials that they are made out of, types of roofs and roads that their homes have.
Random Acts Of Kindness: We have been learning about the Laurel School community, especially all the people that work in the school. This week we chose Ms. Amy's name out of the bag. The children made pictures for Ms. Amy. They came up with questions of wonder to ask Amy. Some of the questions were what is your favorite book, animal, and food to eat at breakfast. Other questions were how old are you, what color is your house and why do you like llamas. The children gave Ms. Amy their pictures and a cup of flowers that we found in the garden at school. Ms. Amy said that she loved them and it made her feel special. We are waiting the answers to the questions we asked her.
On Thursday, we watched as tree trimmers trimmed the tops of the trees on the elementary school playground. The children were excited to see the man get into the cherry picker and ride it all the way up to the top of the tall trees. It was amazing the sound that the branches made as they hit the ground, "thud". One child said that "it sounded like a drum when the branch hit the Earth!"
