Art & Literature Faire: See updates on the tab "Art & Literature Faire"
Art: We would like to welcome our new art teacher, Ms. Jen, to The Laurel School. The children enjoyed reading a book today and then painting (and mixing colors).
Science Co-Op: This week we read a book called, What Food Is This (Rosemarie Hausherr). In the book, it talked about each of the food groups and where the food comes from (how it is grown). The children then drew a picture of healthy foods they like to eat.
Random Acts Of Kindness: We reviewed the answers to the questions that we asked Ms. Amy. The children were excited to learn that Ms. Amy liked ketchup with her eggs at breakfast, that she liked to go clothes shopping in Boston and that she wanted to write a book about a llama. We will be choosing another teacher when we get back from Thanksgiving break.
Curriculum: This week we talked about our families. The children drew pictures of their families and then shared them with the class. They talked about the members of their immediate families and other relatives and who they are related to (ie. grandparents who are their mom/dad's parents, uncles/aunts are brother's and sisters to their parents, etc.). The children also talked about what they do on Thanksgiving and what they eat.
Community Circle: This week we presented our Thanksgiving pictures to the rest of the preschool wing. The children talked about what they like to eat on Thanksgiving.
Parent Conferences: There will be parent conferences on Wednesday December 3rd. We will be having an early dismissal at 1:00 PM. If you feel that you need a conference or if you have other goals that you would like to set for your child, there is a sign up sheet on the entrance to our classroom. If these times do not work for you, please let me know, my schedule is pretty flexible.
Books we read this week:
*Pattern In The Jungle (Joyce Markovics)
*Gracias, The Thanksgiving Turkey (Joy Cowley)
*Why The Sky Is So Far Away
*What Food Is This (Rosemarie Hausherr).
